I’m Dr. Papa, welcome to my page.

I am a physician specialising in accident & emergency medicine and critical care with around two decades of experience. My medical practice has centered around treating patients with cardiac and pulmonary diseases and helping people through some of their most vulnerable moments — both in hospitals and in the field.
My path led me in founding the Humanitarian Outreach Initiative Foundation in 2013, which supports the needy in healthcare, education and disaster response. The foundation also focuses into animal welfare, and peaceful coexistence within communities.

Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to engage in Wilderness Medicine, becoming the first fellow in this field in India. This interest in preparedness and practical care has led me to train individuals from all walks of life — students, teachers, professionals, and community members — in first response, life support, survival skills, and disaster management.
​For years, I’ve been involved in mass lung screening programs focused on tuberculosis awareness and early detection. I’m also engaged in research related to evolving emergency medicine, Tuberculosis control and hospital disaster preparedness — and in a small way, I hope to contribute toward meaningful change.

2024 has been a milestone year for me as being included as a Director & Executive Member on Board of Harley Healthcare Group PLC at Harley Street, London and also a landmark year by the partnership of my Huma Hospitals in India with Harley UK.
One of the quieter projects close to my heart is the Animal Water Bowl Project, which ensures access to clean water for wildlife in urban lands during the intense tropical Indian summers, that reminds us of our shared responsibility to care for all living beings.
This space is a reflection of the work I’ve been part of, and the values that continue to guide it.

Background
Dr. Mohammed Kaleemuddin Papa is an emergency physician and disaster preparedness & mitigation trainer and a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine based in Austin, Texas.

In 2008, he was awarded ‘the Best Scientific Research Paper’ at the 10th Annual National Conference of the Society for Emergency Medicine, ‘Dr.Shanmugasundaram Gold Medal’ by an international jury from the United States, Australia, European Union and India. His research paper presented at the ACEP Research Forum at Boston in 2009 received many adulations. He is a former Asst. Professor of Cardiac Care Unit at Sri Ramachandra Hospital, a tertiary care in India, and Former Registrar at the Barnet & Chase Farm Hospital, NHS Trust UK.
He is a founder visionary of an unconventional 24/7 urgent care, the first of its kind in India which has been operational since 2010. This model provides exclusive urgent care/emergency services to students, residents and corporates sectors of our community.

Dr. Papa is the Managing Director at HUMA Hospitals which was established by his father Dr. Hisamuddin Papa, a renowned and eminent Pulmonologist, in 1987.
As Founder & Director General of Humanitarian Outreach Initiative Foundation which conducts training in Disaster Medicine & Disaster Management; the NGO is involved in hands-on training, real-time technical animal and human rescues during disaster situations. He is a national level pistol shooter, martial artist, musician and an accomplished athlete.
